Licence Renewal Starts With Clean Books

DMCC does not care how busy you were -- miss the filing window and your licence is at risk.

Portal Submission Sorted

We prepare every document the DMCC Member Portal requires -- audited statements, summary sheet, auditor signatures -- so nothing bounces back.

IFRS From the First Entry

DMCC mandates IFRS-compliant financials. We code to IFRS when the transaction is recorded, not when the auditor asks for reclassifications.

Dormant or Active, Same Obligation

Even if your DMCC company had zero revenue, you still owe audited financials. We handle dormant entity filings so a quiet year does not trigger a penalty.

Qualifying Income Tracked Properly

Free zone corporate tax at 0% only applies to qualifying income. We segregate qualifying and non-qualifying revenue in the ledger from day one so your tax position is defensible.

What We Handle for DMCC Companies

On the DMCC Approved List for a Reason

Ahmed Mahfoudh Chartered Accountants & Auditors is registered on the DMCC Approved Auditors List and with the UAE Ministry of Economy. We work with DMCC companies daily -- FZ-LLCs, branches of foreign companies, and dormant entities. We know what the portal accepts, what gets rejected, and what triggers a compliance review. Our team prepares the books, the audit file, and the portal submission under one engagement so nothing falls between providers. When the auditor arrives, the file is already organised. When the portal deadline approaches, the submission is already queued.

Why DMCC Accounting Is Not Generic Accounting

A mainland accountant who has never filed through the DMCC portal will cost you time you do not have.

AMC Sami Abdallah Partners team
We Know What the Portal Rejects

The DMCC Member Portal is specific about formatting, signatures, and the summary sheet layout. A submission with a missing stamp or a mismatched figure gets sent back, and resubmission eats into your 180-day window. We have filed through this portal hundreds of times. Nothing bounces.

Your Audit File Is Ready Before Your Auditor Asks

DMCC-approved auditors need a trial balance, general ledger, bank confirmations, fixed asset register, and supporting schedules. We prepare the complete file during the year, not in a two-week panic after the auditor sends their request list. The audit starts and finishes faster.

Qualifying Income Is Segregated in the Ledger

The 0% corporate tax rate on DMCC qualifying income only holds if you can prove the income qualifies. We track qualifying and non-qualifying revenue in separate ledger accounts from the first transaction. If the FTA reviews your return, the segregation is already in your chart of accounts, not reconstructed from invoices.

Dormant Does Not Mean Exempt

A DMCC company with no activity still owes audited financial statements. We file simplified accounts for dormant entities so an inactive year does not result in a suspended licence. The filing is smaller, but it still needs to be IFRS-compliant and submitted through the portal.

VAT and Corporate Tax Are Coded at Entry

Every transaction we record carries its VAT treatment and corporate tax classification from the moment it hits the ledger. When the quarterly VAT return or the annual CT filing comes around, the numbers are already categorised. No one is reclassifying six months of entries under deadline pressure.

One Team From Books to Portal

Your bookkeeper, your audit file preparer, and the person who submits to the DMCC portal are all in the same practice. There is no coordination gap between three vendors, no version mismatch, and no finger-pointing if something is late. One team, one deadline, one file.

Your DMCC Accounting Team

Chartered accountants who file through the DMCC portal every month, not once a year.

DMCC Accounting and Compliance Questions

What DMCC company owners and finance managers ask before switching accountants.

What is the DMCC audit filing deadline?

180 days after the end of your financial year. For a December 31 year-end, that means June 30. DMCC may grant extensions to September 30 in some years, but planning around the 180-day window is safer than hoping for one.

What happens if we miss the deadline?

DMCC can impose financial penalties, suspend your trade licence, delay your licence renewal, or in severe cases revoke the licence entirely. A late filing also triggers increased compliance scrutiny on future submissions.

Does a dormant DMCC company need audited financials?

Yes. Even if your company had zero revenue and zero transactions, DMCC requires audited financial statements. The audit is simplified, but it still needs IFRS-compliant accounts submitted through the portal. Skipping it puts your licence at risk.

Do we need a DMCC-approved auditor?

Yes. DMCC only accepts audit reports from firms on their Approved Auditors List. A submission from a non-approved auditor will be rejected. Ahmed Mahfoudh Chartered Accountants & Auditors is on that list.

What documents does the portal need?

Audited financial statements, the independent auditor's report, a signed and stamped summary sheet, and supporting records if requested. The financials must reconcile exactly with the summary sheet figures. Any mismatch and the submission is returned.

How does corporate tax work for DMCC companies?

Qualifying income earned by a Qualifying Free Zone Person is taxed at 0%. Non-qualifying income is taxed at 9% above the AED 375,000 threshold. The distinction depends on the type of activity, not just where your licence is. We segregate qualifying and non-qualifying revenue in the ledger from the start so the position is clear and auditable.

What accounting software do you use?

QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Xero, Tally -- whatever your DMCC company already runs on. We log into your system and post directly. If you are setting up fresh, we recommend based on your transaction volume and whether you trade in multiple currencies.

Can you take over mid-year?

Yes. We pick up from any month-end. We need your latest trial balance, bank statements, and software access. If there is a backlog, we clear it first -- usually two to four weeks depending on how far behind the books are. Ongoing work starts once the ledger is current.

How do you handle multi-currency for commodity traders?

Each transaction is recorded at the exchange rate on the transaction date. Month-end revaluation entries adjust open balances to the closing rate. Exchange gains and losses are reported as a separate line item. For commodity traders with USD, EUR, and AED flows, this is daily work, not a year-end exercise.

What is the difference between DMCC accounting and mainland accounting?

Three things. First, DMCC mandates audited financials submitted through its own portal -- mainland companies file differently. Second, the corporate tax qualifying income rules are specific to free zones. Third, your auditor must be on the DMCC Approved List. A mainland accountant unfamiliar with these rules will cost you resubmissions and missed deadlines.

Do you prepare the audit file or just the books?

Both. We maintain the books throughout the year and compile the complete audit file -- trial balance, general ledger, bank confirmations, fixed asset register, and all supporting schedules. When the DMCC-approved auditor begins, they receive an organised file on day one, not a box of loose documents.

What records must we keep and for how long?

Seven years for corporate tax records under Federal Decree-Law No. 47. Five years for VAT records under FTA rules. We maintain digital copies of all journals, ledgers, and reconciliation workpapers. You should also retain original invoices, contracts, bank statements, and trade documents on your end.

Can you handle our VAT return too?

We classify every entry with its VAT treatment when it is recorded. Preparing the quarterly return from pre-coded entries is straightforward. Filing the return itself is a separate engagement that most DMCC clients bundle with their bookkeeping.
